Introducing Sandwich, Falcon, and Moon

A couple of months ago, we invited thousands of customers to try a beta project called Groupon Rewards. The idea is for you to earn G’s for exploring your city, and spend them on the coolest stuff in town. With your feedback, we’re taking this program to the next level…by introducing “levels”. Rather than bronze, silver, and gold, you will climb the prestigious ladder of “sandwich”, “falcon”, and “moon”. Every time you get a Groupon, you take one step closer to the next level.

Welcoming the Moon

We invited some customers to check out a beta version of “levels”, and were blown away by your progress. In just a couple of weeks, several customers have already reached “Moon”. We felt like we needed to call and personally congratulate each one of these pioneers. Just ask Barbara D. from Washington D.C. who was given a call at her desk by three Groupon employees:

Getting to the Next Level

In the coming days, we’ll automatically add all Groupon Rewards members to the “levels” program. We’ll also continue to invite more and more customers into Rewards in the coming months. In the meantime, ask your friends if they’ve “got G’s”. We’ll also be sending a few random invitations each day to people who use “#GrouponG” on Twitter.

When you’re close to the first level (“sandwich”) we’ll send you a personal note and let you know. Each level gives you access to new benefits, like private parties, G-oodies, bonus G’s, and other cool stuff.

G’s are in beta, so we hunger for your feedback. Send any questions or comments to the rewards team.

I don’t know. Personally, I’m kind of tired of achieving ranks in everything these days. I just want to get my Groupons and have a great time for less money at places I love in my city. I’m sure this will appeal to many though.

So not everyone is on this program? That really doesn’t seem fair. Just sayin

I’m tired of “levels” also. Is this a great place for discounts on great things in my city or some competition?

hey everybody, chill! the Gs are just an incentive system to get people to check them out daily, whether or not you get the emails. if you don’t like the dangling carrot, ignore it. i, for one, welcome the fact that i can currently get free movie tickets for checking out the daily groupon.

Personally I don’t care about level, points, falcon’s or moons. Keep it simple. Why complicate an uncomplicated product/service?

I’m all for free stuff. If I wasn’t interested in “the deal” I wouldn’t have joined Groupon. So far there are some great offers. Job well done. Now gimme something free! hahaha. PEACE

Seems to me people like myself will be left out of the levels. although i love many of the bargains Groupon offers i live in the far NW suburbs so many of the deals in the city i cannot participate in due to time constraints. We need more deals out this way!!!!

Poor naming choices. It is confusing and doesn’t speak well enough to your brand. Unless you reevaluate how describe the program and how you name it, you will limit adoption.

Do not like the levels at all. Enough with ‘reward points’ and all that nonsense. If the deals are good enough people will buy them. Keep It Simple!

I wish I could get in on the beta and think it’s a great idea!

Those who don’t like it can simply ignore it and not participate.

Sounds like the best of both worlds. Is there anyway to get into the beta program still???

Ok, so I am just totally in awe of this video. I played it on a perpetual loop for about a half hour. Dudes can sing!!! Be still my heart!! Do either of them sing, like…for REAL? (hobby? career?) If not, I agree with what’s-her-name. Dudes, your talents ARE wasted at Groupon! Not sayin’ you should leave, but you need a night gig or somethin.

    Your number one fan, Amanda

The more free stuff the better! As long as it’s all automatic when you buy your groupon, I think any incentive is great. We all get the emails because we want to do great stuff for less money, so more is better. Love it, especially if you are able to keep it brainless for us.

I have two accounts somehow – an email and a facebook. The rewards are on the facebook account, but Groupon now only allows me to buy on the email one (which is not tied to awards.) Therefore my trial/beta experience is not actually accurate. I would have accumulated a lot more G’s had the rewards actually been on the email account.

    Does this make sense?

I don’t guess I’m in this either, because I’ve never heard of it. I do buy Groupons and I’d like to be offered movie coupons just for looking at the daily Groupon – which I do…. How do I get into this program???

Why do we have to make this more confusing? I am sick of more levels and unfair and uneven treatment. I am switching over to aDealio.com. They seem to be the way Groupon used to be when they were small. Adios amigo!!

Hey all, thanks for all the feedback. For those of you who aren’t in Rewards, find a friend who has some invites left. We’ll also looking for and randomly selecting people who tweet #GrouponG.

And within the next few weeks, everyone in Rewards should be a part of levels!

    Thanks, Suneel from Groupon

You guys don’t get it. Silly names for a silly program, and no one even knows what the rules are. Stop playing G-d and just get me the deals. you’re not the only game in town.

I like the song :) ) it’s performed very well. by the way the whole idea makes pretty good sense to me. if you have bought like a looot of groupons you should be rewarded in a way. i think that’s great.

I was excited when I heard about this program at a local groupon rewards event in DC last week, mainly because they said it was exclusive and only a few people got access to it. I am now a Falcon, and I was excited that I may continue to get invited to more events and get more free stuff (thanks for the wine, BTW), but then after reading this, it looks like it’s going to be available to everyone. I kind of liked the fact that it was more exclusive and only a few of us got g’s.
